SUMMARY:GreenMinds SHS Climate Education Workshop
DESCRIPTION:INTRODUCTION\nGreenMinds is GROW-GREEN’s main school-based programme that brings engaging climate education directly to Senior High Schools across Ghana. The programme goes beyond basic classroom learning by helping students understand climate change\, think critically about environmental issues\, and build the confidence to speak up and take action in their homes\, schools\, and communities. \nThe programme will take place in June 2026\, aligning with World Environment Day (5 June) and World Oceans Day (8 June). GreenMinds serves as an introduction to GROW-GREEN’s mission and activities. \nWorking in partnership with the Ghana Education Service (GES)\, trained volunteer facilitators will visit selected schools to deliver interactive sessions that turn climate knowledge into real-life action. 🌍 \n\nWHO CAN ATTEND\nThis programme is open to: \n\nSenior High School students (SHS 1 to SHS 3)\nTeachers and school environmental club members\, who can also participate as co-facilitators\n\nWe aim to ensure at least 50% female participation\, supported through targeted school selection and outreach efforts. \n\nTARGET AUDIENCE\nGreenMinds is designed for: \n\nSenior High School students aged 15–20 in partner schools across Greater Accra and the Eastern Region\n\nThe programme is inclusive and accessible to all students.No prior knowledge of climate science is required. \n\nWHAT TO EXPECT\nParticipants can expect: \n\nAn interactive session covering:\n\nThe basics of climate science\nClimate change impacts in Ghana\, such as coastal erosion\, irregular rainfall\, and heat stress\n\n\nCoaching and selection opportunities for the Inter-School GreenMinds Climate Debate Tournament\, scheduled for November 2026\, which will showcase student leadership and climate advocacy\nThe chance to join GROW-GREEN’s youth volunteer and advocacy network\, with future opportunities to participate in programmes like GreenSpark (skills training) and GreenPath (mentorship and career support) 🌱
